I've tried to load music from my X10 onto a USB stick to play on my car's audio. I followed the instructions in the manual re exporting to USB but when I tried to play the stick in the car - nothing! The car's audio couldn't find anything to play, though it will play music from a USB stick I downloaded from my PC.
Anybody got any suggestions? (please keep it simple & in plain English, I'm not into Geek-speak)

Are you sure the format was mp3 & not another type?
Can you play the same files on the usb on the PC?
Can you view the copied files on the PC (to be sure the files weren't copied elsewhere)?

As above, check the type of files your car will process.
I had to convert most of mine from flac to MP3 so the car would play then. The car does accept some other formats too, but check with the manual.
You can do the whole process on the X10, but it takes a while.
