Post subject:  Album Art - Applying question?

Hi,
I would welcome a tip on how to solve a frustration with Album Art.

Say I have 20 Albums named 'Greatest Hits', but with 20 different Artists - How do I assign Album Art to each Album separately?

(As even if I select a singe album - when I apply the album art - it copies this across all my 'greatest hit' albums)

Also,

Whenever I rename an Album - the Album Art vanishes - is there a way to stop this happening?

Thanks,
T

Just rename & tag/art cover etc...
Apply the art via X10 menu or web-interface after renaming.
Computer and devices don't process the logic just data.
From the ALBUM sorting:
MENU/ALBUM ART or (Select an album) Press "TAGEDIT" on remote, will display the "service" - google, 7 digi......

Hi,
Thanks -
What I will/ am doing is renaming the albums called 'Greatest hits' or 'Best Of' etc etc - as this solves it - but is labour intensive.
However, what is not initially clear is that if you say select an album that happens to be called 'Greatest Hits' & then update the album art work - all other albums with the same tag also receive the new artwork..... I feel this is slightly clumsy but am now aware & will use Tag Edit to separate these.
Cheers.

That is why you check before ripping........ :)
Also if you arrange or sort by discography (artist/album) for example:
Paravorrit -------> "Greatest Arias" (Tag this will only affect this album).
SORT & tag from another section not album view.

If you tag from the Album view the tracks will all go under "Greatest Arias" , thus tagging will affect the whole tracks, if many albums have the same name "Greatest Arias", "Best Of", "......Hits"....:

If you check the link & I use the "artist" but you could use the album section too, rename to "Greatest Arias - Pavarotti", with a keyboard or remote or later on the web interface.

So:
(Menu/rip option/rip format/check data (edit etc)/art cover/OK)

For example:
Title: Track1....
Artist: Sir Simon Rattle/English Chamber Orc...
Album: Best Of UK Conductors....
Year: 2013
Genre: Chamber Music

Thank you for the clarification & I am now applying these disciplines.
-it would have been nice to see the x10 warn before applying album art updates with an 'artist' update - to avoid it updating 100's of albums by accident (which happened to me - learning the hard way)
- also, using the web GUI when changing the album details the album art is lost & has to be re-applied, is there a way to avoid this?
Thanks,
T

Hi, sorry for not being clearer,
If I change an album details using the x10 http interface (via a browser rather than direct from the x10) the album art is lost - so after the update no album art is shown until I re-apply it.

Cheers,
T.

It's logical the tagging info relating to the album name has been amended.
Hence the metadata is removed - re-tag ART or edit the tracks/other & rename on the x10.
The web-interface scripts can be slightly different from the X10 (in the way commands are executed)...metadata can be confusing across many platforms :)
(different execution functions & a mixture of standards, which are always being updated on many softwares/devices/portable players etc...)

Sometimes you just need to figure out which is best for you...your repertoire thus you do whatever you like :D (as long as you are happy).
