After using my X40 for the past 3 years from new via the variable volume control, which is very convenient of course,I decided to try the fixed output instead. While this is less convenient I found that the sound quality improved surprisingly. There is less colouration and a better focus to instruments in the soundstage.Has anybody else experienced this?

We do not test this software ("40" isn't an official UK device cocktail audio) so i wouldn't be able to help there ...you might want to check the firmware updates. Thanks
