With digital files, depending on the encoding, could sometimes behave "glitchy" when played. Does not necessary mean the files are problematic but could be the speed of the HDD, software, player, bitrate, library source, protocol, network speed, or even OS etc I would try & stick to popular formats like flac as those are open source & supported rather than apple based or even mp3, however one doesn't always have the choice. Another thing could be a delay in playing especially if playing from a server or a NAS on a network. As long as the files aren't corrupted i wouldn't bother, just have occasional backups just in case the NAS or HDD fails. If it happens all the time, you could swap the HDD or play from another source to narrow the fault.
